Islam regards itself, not as a subsequent faith to Judaism and Christianity, but as the primordial religion, the faith from which Judaism and Christianity are subsequent developments. In the Qur’an we read that Abraham ‘was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a monotheist, a Muslim’ (Qur’an 3:66). Therefore, it is Muslims, and not Christians or Jews, who are the true representatives of the faith of Abraham to the world today. (Qur’an 2:135)
The Biblical prophets were all Muslims
Many prophets of the past received the one religion of Islam. (Qur’an 42:13)
Who were these previous prophets?
According to Qur’an 6:85-87, they include: Ibrahim (Abraham), ‘Ishaq (Issac), Yaqub (Jacob), Nuh (Noah), Dawud (David), Sulaiman (Solomon), Ayyub (Job), Yusuf (Joseph), Musa (Moses), Harun (Aaron), Zakariyya (Zachariah), Yahya (John the Baptist), ‘Isa (Jesus), Ilyas, Ishmael, Al-Yash’a (Elisha), Yunus (Jonah) and Lut (Lot).
We can expose Islam by not having any knowledge whatsoever of the meaning of the names of those prophets (All the names of those prophets have a meaning which the author of the Qur’an was unaware of), but in this article however we are going to expose the Qur’an and Muslims by telling us that they believe in the same Jesus Christians believe only.
Who is Jesus?
Jesus’ mother tongue was Aramaic. In His own lifetime he was called Yeshua in Aramaic, and Jesu in Greek. This is like calling the same person John when speaking English and Jean when speaking French: Jesu, pronounced “Yesoo”, is the Greek form of Aramaic Yeshua. (The final -s in Jesu-s is a Greek grammatical ending.) Yeshua is itself a form of Hebrew Yehoshua’, which means ‘the Lord is salvation’. However Yehoshua’ is normally given in English as Joshua. So Joshua and Jesus are variants of the same name.
It is interesting that Jesus’ name Yehoshua’ contains within it the proper Hebrew name for God, the first syllable Yeh– being short for YHWH (Yehweh) ‘the LORD’ (See Psalm 68:4).
Yeshua of Nazareth was never called “Isa”, the name the Qur’an gives to him. Arab-speaking Christians refer to Jesus as Yasou’ (from Yeshua) not ‘Isa’.
Who is Isa? The Muslim Jesus!
Isa, was a prophet of Islam:
Jesus’ true name, according to the Qur’an, was ‘Isa’. His message was pure Islam, surrender to Allah. (Qur’an 3:84) Like all the Muslim prophets before him, and like Muhammad after him, ‘Isa was a lawgiver, and Christians should submit to his law (Qur’an 3:50; Qur’an 5:48). ‘Isa’s original disciples were also true Muslims, for they said ‘We believe. Bear witness that we have surrendered. We are Muslims.’ (Qur’an 5:111).
Like other messengers of Islam before him, ‘Isa received his revelation of Islam in the form of a book. (Qur’an 6:90) ‘Isa’s book is called the Injil or ‘gospel’. (Qur’an 5:46) – The Torah was Moses’ book, and the Zabur (Psalms) were David’s book. So Jews and Christians are ‘people of the Book’. The one religion revealed in these books was Islam. (Qur’an 3:18).
As with previous prophets, ‘Isa’s revelation verified previous prophets’ revelations. (Qur’an 3:49, 84; Al- Qur’an 5:46; Qur’an 61:6) Muhammad himself verified all previous revelations, including the revelation to ‘Isa (Qur’an 4:47), and so Muslims must believe in the revelation which ‘Isa received. (Qur’an 2:136). However, after ‘Isa the Injil was lost in its original form. Today the Qur’an is the only sure guide to ‘Isa’s teaching. (Though the Qur’an clearly states that none can corrupt Allah’s words [18:27], and command Muhammad and Muslims to ask Jews and Christians if they are in doubt of the Qur’an [10:94]).

The biography of ‘Isa’:
According to the Qur’an, ‘Isa was the Messiah. He was supported by the ‘Holy Spirit’ (Qur’an 2:87; Qur’an 5:110). He is also referred to as the ‘Word of Allah’. (Qur’an 4:171)
[Ironically, Muslims believe that the words of Allah are eternal, yet deny Jesus to be eternal.]
The followings are proofs that “Isa” of the Qur’an is definitely NOT the “Jesus” of the Bible; hence Muslims aren’t supposed to tell us that they believe in Jesus:
According to the Qur’an:
– Jesus is NOT the Son of God
The Jews call ´Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah´s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!– Qur’an 9:30
Not only does this verse deny that Jesus is the Son of God, but also say that “The Jews call Uzair (Ezra) the Son of God”. Which Jew believes in that?
– Jesus was NOT crucified
That they said (in boast), “We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not. – Qur’an 4:157
Who are “they”, this verse refers to? Based on the context, it refers to the Jews. But wait, which Jew who believes in Judaism believes that Jesus is the Christ? Another mistake from the ignorant author of the Qur’an!
– Jesus’ mother was Miriam the sister of Moses/ Other historical blunders
‘Isa’s mother Mariam was the daughter of ‘Imran’, (Qur’an 3:34, 35) — cf the Amram of Exodus 6:20 (Biblical passage) — and the sister of Aaron (and Moses) – Qur’an 19:28
She was fostered by Zachariah (father of John the Baptist). (Qur’an 3:36) While still a virgin (Qur’an 6:12; Qur’an 19:19-21), Mariam gave birth to ‘Isa alone in a desolate place under a date palm tree. (Qur’an 19:22ff) (Not in Bethlehem).
[The Messiah was prophesied to be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2, Matthew 2:1-8), and definitely not the son of Mariam (sister of Moses) who lived 1500 years before His birth]
‘Isa’ spoke whilst still a baby in his cradle (Qur’an 3:46; Qur’an 5:110; Qur’an 19:30). He performed various other miracles, including breathing life into clay birds, healing the blind and lepers, and raising the dead. (Qur’an 3:49; Qur’an 5:111)
He also foretold the coming of Muhammad (Qur’an 61:6) – Which cannot be proven by any book.
As we see, there is no way in the world that the “Isa” of the Qur’an is the same Jesus of the Bible.
