A Muslim claims that the Spirit of God is not God. He even went further to say that the ‘Jewish scriptures’ never view Him as God. So, I am going to refute this claim as concise and explicit as I can because we all know Muslims don’t read much; the reason why they always make claims without proofs.

Since the Muslim wants me to show him ‘the Jewish scriptures’, I’m not going to quote any passage from the New Testament and the Old Testament passages where the Holy Spirit is given other titles such as ‘the Angel of the LORD’ and so on…

But first, since the Muslim suggests that the Israelites never viewed the Holy Spirit as God (which is based on ignorance); can he answer us this question: ‘Do the Israelites view Allah as God and Muhammad as a prophet? Looking foward to his answer though I already know he will ignore it.

Now, is the Holy Spirit God or not?

I’m sure that this Muslim never actually read the ‘Jewish scriptures’ he based his claim upon.

According to the ‘Jewish scriptures’, the Spirit of God is everything God is:

  • He is called the God and the Rock of Israel:

2 Samuel 23:1-3 – Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD spake by me, and HIS (the Spirit’s) WORD was in my tongue. THE GOD OF ISRAEL SAID, THE ROCK OF ISRAEL SPAKE TO ME, He (the Spirit) that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

  • He is the Creator and life giver:

Job 33:40 – THE SPIRIT OF GOD HATH MADE ME, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. (cf. Genesis 1:1-2, 26-27; 2:4-7)

Job 26:13 – BY HIS SPIRIT he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

Psalm 104:29-30 – Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. Thou sendest forth THY SPIRIT, THEY ARE CREATED: and thou renewest the face of the earth.

When I quoted Genesis 1:1-2 to prove that the Spirit created the world, the Muslim objected that the Holy Spirit was only a Spirit God sent to do what He wanted; but he forgot to realize that the world was created by God alone; not with Him and His creature(s):

Isaiah 44:24 – Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh ALL THINGS; that stretcheth forth the heavens ALONE; that spreadeth abroad the earth BY MYSELF.

This proves that the Holy Spirit can’t be just a mere creature of God since He created the earth and God said He ‘alone’ did it; not that He needed a help from His creature.

  • The Holy Spirit is omniscient, and therefore needing no one to counsel or guide him:

Isaiah 40:13-14 – Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

  • The Holy Spirit is omnipresent and omnipotent; which are God’s attributes:

Psalm 139:7-12 – Whither shall I go from THY SPIRIT? Or whither shall I flee from THY PRESENCE? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

Clearly, David equates God with His Spirit in these passages. There is no escaping from the Holy Spirit seeing that He is present everywhere just as God is [i.e. there isn’t a place a person can go to where the Spirit isn’t already there since the entire creation is always present before him]

And:

Ezekiel 36:24-28 – For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

Finally:

Ezekiel 39:29 – Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out MY SPIRIT UPON the house of Israel, saith the LORD God.

God will place His Spirit ‘within’ His people in order to empower them to perfectly obey His commands and to never turn away from Him again. The only way that the Spirit could do this is if He is omnipresent and omnipotent.

As I said above, I have much more passages to prove the Deity of the Spirit of God from the ‘Jewish scriptures’ but Muslims always want to force you to use the very word they are looking for that’s why I’m not even going to mention those passages where the Holy Spirit is referred to as the Angel of the LORD; or the New Testament since it’s not ‘Jewish scriptures’ as though God is ‘Jewish’.

So, there you go. Muslims’ ignorance and deception are exposed once again. Click here and be saved O Muslims.
